After having sent the 2 older boys to their weekly 3rd KL Boys' Brigade meeting, Ethan was pretty much left alone at home without his 2 brothers to play with. It being the eve of Halloween, we decided to take him to 1U and BSC to see what events these 2 establishments had lined up for the kids.
1U's theme for Halloween

Getting into character
Hooyah!! I'm the Red Power Ranger. Don't mess with me!
This is Ethan's first encounter with Halloween and of course he didn't have a clue what was going on or what to expect. When asked to put on his Power Ranger outfit, he was only too eager to oblige as it's one of his favourites.
After browsing through the many stalls sporting Halloween merchandise, we took a seat around the stage to wait for the next event starting at 2pm..... the walkabout of the Living Dead!woooooo......
We prepared Ethan for what was to come so when the 'ghouls' finally appeared he wasn't too terrified by the sight, although he did sit very still on his Daddy's lap.
The 'blood' dripping down the sides of Count Dracula's mouth
made him look more sad than menacing! :)
My favourite.....although his unsteady footsteps & swaying
motion did make him appear as if he'd had a tad too much to
drink before he came on stage. lol!
Maniacal looking ghoul.
Scared the wits out of a boy when he went up to the young fella
& roared at him. He was heading towards Ethan when this photo was taken.
Luckily he decided not to do the same or I might have smacked him!
Don't know who she's supposed to be, but she walked about
cool as a cucumber.
After a while, Ethan decided he has had enough with all the ghouls and said so. We felt the same & headed in search of lunch.
Having filled our tummies, we headed to Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC).
I had earlier read in the newspaper that they'd be having a trick or treat session from 5-7pm. When we got there, I found out that there were more than 30 tenants/outlets participating in the event. The children had only to go into these shops, say 'trick or treat' and they'd get sweets in return! Free sugar fix! YAY!!! ;)
(just kidding. I filtered through the 'loot' at the end of the day & gave only some to my boys. The rest were kept aside for redistribution to friends...)
Some photos of the many outlets we visited:
The kids had to wait at this outlet (Currency Exchange) as it's locked for security purposes.
Well worth the wait because each kid was given a box of chocolate (not loose pieces of
chocolate or sweets, but a box!....small, but still a complete box)
The Mac shop (above) and Sony Centre (below)
sportingly joined in the fun too.
This lovely lady from Intoxi-Kate sportingly obliged
to re-enact the treat-giving part just for my camera.
You really gotta appreciate those shop owners & shop assistants
who take the trouble & effort to get into character for the kids.
Here are my favourite outlets.
Striking a scary pose at my request :)
Ethan is a little shaken but still bravely soldiered on with Mummy at his side
for this photo (snapped by my maid)
The guy on the right is supposed to be Death, but the other fella can't
seem to decide what he wants to be. He looks like a cross between Freddy Krueger, an old hag and Michael Jackson (look at the wig & hat he's got on).
Hmmm....what's this mysterious bag gonna yield me?
The management of BSC had really taken the effort to create a Halloween atmosphere for their shoppers. The concourse area of the new wing was cleverly decorated to look 'halloween-ish' complete with witches, gnarly trees, jack-o-lanterns, & Gothic gates complete with stone gargoyles perched on top.
There were games stalls set up. Shoppers bought tokens to try
their luck at games. Ethan ended up with 5 presents, out of 8 games tried (some
with assistance from Mummy & Daddy of course :))
Out of the 5 presents, he gave one each to Justin & Brandon.
One of the games stalls, with a Cruella Deville wannabe in the foreground.
Did I mention gnarly trees.....?
.....and Gothic gates with stone gargoyles.....?
After more than 2 hours of hardwork trick or treating, & games
(& lots of walking by Mummy in heels!),
one last photo opportunity to capture the memory of our trip to BSC
for Ethan's 1st Halloween experience.
HAPPY ALL HALLOWS EVE!
